Flacfit Support
Help for preparing a separate FLAC copy on macOS while keeping original files untouched.
System Requirements
Flacfit requires macOS 14 or later. It processes files locally and does not require an account, network connection, or Sonos hardware.
Getting Started
- Choose or drop one folder containing FLAC files.
- Review the counts for already compatible files, files that can be converted, and issues.
- If work is needed, choose a new separate output location.
- Review the output and disk-space check, then choose Create Compatible Copy.
- Reveal the output in Finder or export a Markdown report from the result screen.
Compatibility Target
Flacfit checks FLAC files against a target of up to 24-bit, 48 kHz, with one or two channels. Compatible FLAC files are copied unchanged when a mixed folder needs output work. Supported mono or stereo FLAC files above the target are converted.
Folders containing only compatible FLAC files intentionally stop after scanning without creating a duplicate output copy.
Files Flacfit Does Not Prepare
Multichannel FLAC files and files whose audio properties cannot be read appear as issues. Flacfit does not downmix multichannel audio. It does not copy non-FLAC files such as sidecar artwork, playlists, cue sheets, or documents.
Converted-file tags and embedded artwork are not guaranteed to be preserved. Keep original files as the authoritative library.
Troubleshooting
- No FLAC files found: confirm the selected folder contains regular files with the
.flacextension. Hidden files are skipped. - Output already exists: choose a new folder name or remove an output you no longer need. Flacfit never silently overwrites an existing output.
- Not enough space: free disk space or choose another output volume, then run the output check again.
- Interrupted or failed run: use the offered remove-and-retry action only for the partial output identified by Flacfit, or choose a new empty output folder.
- Cancellation takes time: Flacfit waits for the current file to reach a safe stopping point before removing app-created partial output.
- File issue: open Review Issues for the stage, reason, recovery guidance, and source reveal action.
Privacy
Flacfit has no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking, cloud upload, or network service. Read the Flacfit Privacy Policy for details about local preferences, partial-run manifests, and user-exported reports.
